Buzz

Take turns counting to 100. But when you reach any number divisible by 7, say “buzz” instead of the number. For instance, say 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, buzz, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, buzz, 15, etc. When you forget to say “buzz” at the appropriate, you lose and the next person gets to try. You can change 7 to other numbers if you want, and match them to the player’s ability level (10 or 5 for younger kids).

Related Words

Take turns thinking of words that relate to the previous word. For instance, the first person says “hot,” then the second person says “cold,” then the next person says “ice,” then the next person says “tea,” etc.

Wager

Each person wagers how many of an item they will see until the next landmark. For instance, they guess “I will see 10 blue cars before we reach the next gas station.” The second person says “I will see 4 semi-trucks before we reach the next gas station.” Whoever is closest to their guess is the winner.

Scavenger Hunt

Make up a list of items that each person will have to find: i.e., an ambulance, a black horse, a gas truck, etc. Whoever finds all the items on the list first is the winner. For small children, you can make up sheets ahead of time with drawings or pictures cut from magazines.
